Although it's not advertised as compatible with the Dell Dimension 5100, I was able to replace the power supply in about 10 minutes with this and it fit perfectly and works perfectly. Really easy, and I'm not highly skilled in hardware installations.My Dell was dead - when you pushed the power button literally nothing happened. The only sign of life was a green light on the motherboard. Google searches were inconclusive but pointed to either a bad mother board or a bad power supply unit (PSU). I decided to try this new PSU as opposed to spending $500 or so on a new computer, and I'm happy I did... our computer is up and running.One note ... Great replacement for my Dimenion 8400. I installed the StarTech power supply around a month ago and so far no problems. Installation was very simple (took me about 10 minutes from opening the tower to having the computer running again, and this was my first time changing any computer hardware).The only complaint I have is how the unit is held in place. It lacks the rails that were present on Dell's original power supply so the "hook" on the inside of the tower did not have a place it could slide into. We received our Startech rack a few weeks after ordering via Dell. The frame of the rack was bowed in the middle just enough so that no equipment would fit in the middle third of the rack. The equipment were standard Cisco switches and Dell servers which fit in every other Dell and IBM rack we have. It was also missing a couple pieces of one of the feet.After several weeks of Startech support requesting pictures and finally agreeing to issue an RMA, the person that agreed to the RMA went on vacation without processing it. There was only two problems:1) My Windows 95 B w/ USB Support computer would halt whenever the KVM was plugged in. I could plug a USB keyboard directly into the tower and the keyboard worked fine. The KVM is working great on Windows 98 SE, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, and Server 2003 x64 Edition.2) This KVM does not automatically switch between VGA and DVI sources. If you intend to use both, you either need two monitors or a single monitor with the ability to select between VGA and DVI sources.Except for those ... Initially, after receiving the KVM the keyboard would not respond on one of my computers. I struggled for several hours, figuring the problem on one of my computers was attributable to an Operating System driver or CMOS issue. Eventually I wrote StarView customer service for help.
