Yeah Startech Triple Fan Hard Drive Cooling Kit Black 5.25" Drive Bay

StarTech FANDRIVEBK

Although it is functional, the unit I received is way too loud. I wish I was kidding when I compare it to a salon hair dryer. It makes more noise than the entire rest of the PC. I bought it to provide some additional flow-through air for my case (not as a hard drive cooler specifically), and I couldn't live with it as loud as it was.I wired in a potentiometer to adjust the voltage to the fan trio, hoping to dull the noise, and it only changed the pitch, not really the volume. I also disconnected the fans one by one and discovered that 2 of the 3 were significantly louder than the other. ... The fan unit mounts in any free 5.25 inch drive bay, and the hard drive is mounted directly behind it using the supplied 3.5 inch to 5.25 inch adapter brackets; the fans draw fresh external air into the case through a removable, cleanable filter StarTech FANDRIVEBK and blows the cooler air over the surface of the hard drive - a cost-effective solution that can help extend the life of hot running 7200 RPM, 10,000, or 15,000 RPM IDE and SCSI hard drives in servers or workstations. This triple fan hard drive cooler provides maximum airflow for hot-running hard drives, preventing overheating failures and extending the life of the StarTech FANDRIVEBK drive Includes power splitter cable to draw power from your StarTech FANDRIVEBK PC without reducing the total number of existing power connectors Extends hard drive StarTech FANDRIVEBK life and reliability by keeping it cooler. ... »» Read more...
